The Black Police Association of Greater Dallas Stands in Support of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana Police Department and Speaks Out Against Violence
As an organization, we unequivocally and profoundly denounce violence toward officers in any form. There must be an end immediately to the rhetorical comments aimed at inducing illegal behavior, regardless of their origin. The men and women in law enforcement throughout our country who protect and serve all of our communities deserve to go home at the end of the day. Violence is not the answer, regardless of one’s perceived justification. We must rid our system of injustices by utilizing the criminal and civil process, identifying and eliminating unfit officers, periodic psychological testing beyond pre-employment of officers, uniform standards for use of force/deadly force, national mandates to establish early warning systems, and finally the use of our right to vote. Our community should remove the stigma, and provide safety nets for those who report irrational acts, threats, or pre-cursor actions indicative of potentially violent behavior.
THE LEADERSHIP OF THE BLACK POLICE ASSOCIATION OF GREATER DALLAS STANDS WITH THE BATON ROUGE POLICE DEPARTMENT, WE WILL CONTINUE TO HELP AND SUPPORT THE LEGACY OF OUR FALLEN BROTHERS IN DALLAS, AND WE WILL NOT WAIVER IN OUR STANCE TO PROMOTE ANTI-VIOLENCE.
